1 John 4:6 “We are from God.”
Put Christ First International Ministry is a community of true worshippers, of which Jesus Christ is the head over everything. All persons who associate with our Ministry as members should abide by and agree to the following statements and conduct themselves in accordance with them.
GOD
WE BELIEVE that there is one God eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. There is only one God who created all things.
Genesis 1; Isaiah 45:18; Isaiah 44:6; Revelation 1:8.
GOD THE FATHER
WE BELIEVE that God the Father is the unseen, sovereign, and omnipresent Source of all being, revealed in and by the Son--Jesus Christ, experienced in and by the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 139:16; Matthew 23:9; Matthew 26:39; John 14:28; John 17:11, 21-22; Romans 8:14-15.
GOD THE SON
WE BELIEVE in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal future return to earth in power and glory to judge the living and the dead. He is the Savior of the world and the only mediator between mankind and God. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
Matthew 1:18-20; John 1:1-3, 14; John 3:16-17; John 10:30; John 14:6-7; John 20:30-31; Romans 11:36; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-3, 9:24-28; Revelation 1:13-16, 5:9-14.
GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit, God present with us for guidance into all truth, for joy and comfort, and for empowerment to live a holy life.
Isaiah 30:21; Nehemiah 9:20; Ezekiel 36:27; John 15:26; John 16:13; Romans 14:17; Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Thessalonians 1:6; Titus 3:5-6; 1 John 4:2; 1 John 5:7-8.
THE BIBLE
WE BELIEVE that the Bible is God’s eternal Word to every generation. It contains all that God requires for salvation and is the only sufficient rule for both faith and practice. The Holy Bible is God breathed and God inspired, complete, and without error.
Deuteronomy 4:1-2; Psalm 19:7-10; 119:11, 105; John 5:39; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Pierre 1:19-21; Revelation 22:18-19.
MANKIND
WE BELIEVE that mankind was created as male and female by God for God and called to be in a relationship with Him.
Genesis 1:26-27; 2:16-17; Deuteronomy 30:19-20; Psalm 8:3-6; Mark 12:30; Romans 11:36; 1 Corinthians 15:21-22.
SIN
WE BELIEVE that sin is willful disobedience of the Law of God. The only means of being forgiven and cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
Genesis 3:1-6, 14-19; Luke 13:3; Romans 3:23; 5:8, 17-19; 6:23; 7:7-25.
SALVATION
WE BELIEVE that salvation comes not by our own doing. It is by the Grace of God alone through faith in Christ alone.
Genesis 3:15; Matthew 1:21; John 1:11-14; 3:16, 17; Acts 2:21; Romans 10:9-10; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20; Ephesians 2:8-22; Galatians 2:20; 3:13; Philippians 2:12-13; 1 John 5:11-12.
RESURRECTION
WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life (Heaven) and the other to everlasting damnation (Hell).
Daniel 12:1-2; Matthew 8:11-12; Luke 20:34-38; John 5:28-29; John 6:53-54; 1 Corinthians 15:12-14; Revelation 20:15.
CHURCH
WE BELIEVE that the Church is made up of believers who are united together as one body, of which Jesus Christ is the head over everything.
WE BELIEVE that while both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor/elder/overseer is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.
WE BELIEVE in the autonomy of the local church. The Ministry shall manage its own affairs and shall not be subject to any other religious body or organization.
Matthew 16:15-19; Acts 2:46-47; Romans 12:5; Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:19-22, 3:8-11; 5:22-32; 1 Corinthians 9:12, 13-14; 12:12-27, Colossians 1:18; 1 Timothy 2:9-14, 3:1-7; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Revelation 2:1—3:22, 21:2-3.
FAMILY, MARRIAGE, GENDER and SEXUALITY
WE BELIEVE that our consciences, as Christians, are held captive to the Scripture’s teaching on God’s purpose for marriage and sexuality. Marriage and the family were God's idea, and as divine institutions they are not open to human renegotiation or revision.
WE BELIEVE that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of people related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.
WE BELIEVE that God has ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and Himself. In keeping with His wonderful design, God will normally bless a married couple with children, and it is His good plan that a family made up of a father, a mother, and children witness to His glory and goodness in the world. God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a union between a man and a woman. Any form of sexual immorality, including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography is sinful and offensive to God.
Genesis 1:26-28, 2:15-25; Joshua 24:15; Psalm 127, 128, 139:13-16; Proverbs 1:8, 5:15-20, 22:6; Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, 9:9; Malachi 2:14-16; Matthew 5:31-32, 15:18-20, 19:5-6; Mark 10:6-12; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 7:1-16; Ephesians 5:21-33, 6:1-4; Colossians 3:18-21; Titus 2:3-5; Hebrews 13:4; 1 Peter 3:1-7.
REDEMPTION AND RESTORATION
WE BELIEVE that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture.
Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-13; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Colossians 1:13-14; 1 Peter 5:10.
ORDINANCES:
BAPTISM
WE BELIEVE that baptism pictures the death to sin and the resurrection to newness of life in Christ. It is the picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, our own death to the former way of life, our burial in the likeness of Christ’s death, and our resurrection to walk in newness of life.
WE BELIEVE that baptism is in response to a person’s own commitment to follow Jesus Christ. This ordinance is not to be regarded as a means for man's salvation.
Matthew 3:13-17; 28:18-19; Mark 16:16; John 3:5-7; Acts 10:47-48; 16:29-34; Colossians 2:11-12
THE LORD’S SUPPER
WE BELIEVE that the Lord’s Supper symbolizes Christ’s body broken for us and His blood poured out for us. It is reserved for those who have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Matthew 26:26-29; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 10:16; 11:23-26.
EVANGELISM
WE BELIEVE that it is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations.
Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 10:1-18; John 15:16-17.
VISION
To be a church where Jesus Christ is known as the only Lord and Savior and His Good News is preached and taken into the world.
Matthew 28:16-20; John 7:23-24.
MISSION
We seek first Jesus Christ, and we equip each other to serve Him by sharing His love in practical ways with our neighbors everywhere in the world.
Matthew 6:33, 22:37-39; John 3:16, 5:16-17; Acts 1:8.
